Hashknife Pony Express Coming to Payson

The Hashknife Pony Express, as seen from the outside of Carolyn Stanley & Tim Ehrhardt’s office at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Advantage Realty in Payson.

The Hashknife Pony Express ride will be coming to Payson on February 8, 2017. Riders will be leaving Holbrook at 8:00 A.M. that day and are expected to arrive at 4:45 P.M. at the Payson Post Office. The ride follows Arizona State Route 260, going through Heber and Star Valley, northeast of Payson.

The Hashknife Pony Express carries mail over 200 miles from Holbrook through Payson to Scottsdale. Mail bags are transferred from rider to rider throughout the journey.

People can purchase the “Official Pony Express Envelope”, for $1, at the Holbrook, Joseph City, Overgaard, Pine, Heber, Lakeside/Pinetop, Fountain Hills, Scottsdale, and Snowflake Post Offices prior to February 3, 2017. The envelopes, when mailed, will be hand-stamped with the official ride logo. Approximately 20,000 of these are mailed each year.
