Upcoming Satellite Launch Will Benefit the Payson Area

I’m a bit of a weather and tech geek, so naturally I’m excited about the launch of the GOES-S satellite next week. What is GOES-S and how will it benefit Payson? It’s the latest and greatest weather satellite that will eventually be positioned as GOES-17. It will increase the quality of weather forecasting. Also, while we always hope it won’t be needed, it will help the tracking of wildfires. You can click on the GOES-S links above or here for a great article that further explains the benefits of this satellite.

On a more easily visible level, it’ll create some cool images that people can view. You can view the southwest imagery for the most recently launched weather satellite, GOES-East, here.
